Discovering why

Discovering why

This is the number one question your customers are asking. Are you answering it?

If you’ve ever spent time with children, you know that their favorite question is “Why?” From day one on this planet, we have an inherent desire to know the meaning behind things going on around us. What’s the purpose? Who is it affecting? Why should I care? The same applies to business. The WHY of your business not only captures your audience, but also keeps you focused to ensure you’re delivering on your WHY.

1. Transparency

There is a reason people love buying from local businesses – they feel like they know the brand and the people behind it. Show a personal side of your brand and give the audience a chance to connect with you on another level.

2. Identification

Consumers are looking for ways to identify with your brand beyond the features and benefits.  What’s your story? Why did you begin your business and what is your legacy?

3. Accountability

When the days feel long and that afternoon cup of coffee wasn’t enough to get you motivated, visualizing the WHY can reinvigorate feelings of determination.  Knowing your WHY will remind you of the ultimate goal of your journey.

4. Consistency

Determining the core values of your business shouldn’t be hard once you’ve identified the underlying reason for your business. You can identify strategies and reach goals by remaining true to your WHY.

This concept is nothing new (see video below), but it’s vitally important.
