Call me cliché—but there truly is something refreshing and motivating about the new year.

Yes, I wrote a post on LinkedIn a while back about not waiting until January 1 to set goals. BUT… now that 2018 is in full swing, it’s a great time to reflect on the past year’s successes and challenges, and really think about goals you want to crush in the coming months.

Maybe you want to focus on fostering client relationships. Or, maybe your goal is to work on establishing creditability. Or—I think this is on everyone’s list at some point throughout the year—perhaps your goal is to save time.

Whatever your goals are for the new year, the following are three apps that I’ve come to love over the past few months. My guess is that they’ll come in handy as you work on your goals and resolutions!

Small Thanks with Google

I’ve had so many conversations recently with different agents and groups on the importance of third-party reviews for insurance agencies. But, to be honest, the concept is not something our agency had previously focused on. The irony of this is as soon as someone suggests anything to me—a movie, a restaurant, a product—the first thing I do is look at the reviews on Google.

This brings me to one of my first goals for 2018: Leveraging positive Google reviews to establish credibility for our agency.

Small Thanks with Google takes reviews of your choice and makes them into killer marketing products for your agency (think: posters, table top cards and social media posts).

Since I’ve begun using Small Thanks with Google, it’s been a trickle effect. Clients see either a social media post or a poster on our wall highlighting someone’s review, and it makes them want to go and leave a review as well.

Pipedrive

Get this… I have been sitting on a gold mine and didn’t even realize it. And you might be, too!

I get so caught up in the day-to-day processes of my job and the new business coming my way, that I forget I have a channel for potential growth right within my agency.

I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t do a stellar job following up with accounts I’ve quoted in the past but just couldn’t close. I needed a tool (other than my agency management system) to help me stay on top of these potential leads.

A friend of mine mentioned Pipedrive, a customer relationship management tool, at a conference in the fall. Since then—because my attention span can sometimes be that of a squirrel—I forgot about it. When he found out about my forgetfulness, he took matters into his own hands actually set it up for me.

And guess what… I couldn’t be more grateful! This tool is awesome.

Pipedrive is customizable, and helps agents to organize their leads. It easily integrates with Google Apps, offers activity reminders, has it’s own mobile apps and even allows for in-app emailing.

Once you set it up, you’ll have no excuse not to start digging into the gold mine you’ve been sitting on all along!

Word Swag

This one is for the agents trying to up the ante on their personal or agency social media presence this year.

Ever wonder how people make their quotes on social media look so fancy? The answer is Word Swag. This app can make anyone look like a social media pro.

Word Swag is super easy to use, too. Just download the app on your phone, pick a background, pick a font and BOOM! Now you have a work of art to post on your personal or agency social media platforms in just a few moments.
