We made it! Welcome to 2018, the best year yet.

I’m not big on new year’s resolutions, but we did get a Peloton bike for Christmas. It’s pretty slick. It has a big touchscreen attached to it where you can stream live or recorded spin classes. If you have one, look me up. I’m pmjeff. Game on!

Anyway, on this morning’s ride, Jess King, one of the spin instructors, said,

“Put in the work when no one is watching.”

So true. Successful people are not lucky. There’s no such thing as overnight success. It takes time, patience and pure-grit hustle. Such is the case with SEO.

SEO

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is always a hot topic. Where does your website show up when people search for what you do? Is it at the top? Middle? Last page?

There are two high-level pieces of SEO, optimization and reporting.

Optimization

First, you need to identify the terms your prospects will type into Google and then get those keywords into your website content as much as possible. Content is king here. Ideally, you should have pages dedicated to each of the keywords. These are called “cornerstone” pages. ActiveAgency includes new built-in pages (more on this below) and tools to handle all of this.

Reporting

Then, you wait. SEO takes time. And, it’s always changing. Google needs to find the pages, index them and figure out where to rank them when people search for what you do. The best way to understand what’s going on is to have reporting in place. Here’s an example of an ActiveAgency report for an agency located in Danville, PA.

Notice how there was ZERO visibility in October. That’s because they didn’t have a website. After we launched their new ActiveAgency website, notice the drastic improvement over the last few months. That’s what it’s all about.
