Needle in a haystack? Are you making it easy for people to find you or do they have to search like a 5-year-old searching for Waldo? If it’s the latter, you’re losing out. Spending just a few minutes making sure you’re visible can be the difference between being found and being a nobody online. Here are a few quick tips that will get you moving in the right direction.
First, be sure that your online profiles are complete. At the very least, you should be on LinkedIn. So, be sure that you see “100% complete” on your profile there. If you don’t, LinkedIn makes it easy and walks you through it. Just follow the steps. Do the same thing for any other platforms you’re on, whether Facebook, Twitter or others.
Use your email signature
An easy way to tell people where to find you is to include links at the bottom of your emails. Usually, that means updating your email signature. If you do, though, it’s not necessary to add the graphic logos for LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter. Simply type the text and link it to your social profiles. Clean and simple.
And, we know that you love your logo. Every business does. But, resist the urge to attach it to your email signature. Not only is it distracting, but it also increases the size of your message and is often blocked by your recipient’s email program. It can also cause your emails to be a mess on mobile. Again, simple is better.
Here’s a quick example:
Link it up on your website
These days, your website is the hub of your company’s public face. All roads lead there so be sure that you have links to your social media accounts included. Usually, that menas putting links in the header, footer or sidebar. And, if your website has a blog (and it probably should), be sure that Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ buttons are included to make sharing a breeze.
With those simple tips, you’ll be well on your way to being visible and building relationships online. See you there!
