You first need to register your new domain name. GoDaddy is a popular company for this, but there are many others. Once done, contact us with the new domain name, and we’ll get to work. Both your old and new addresses will continue to work after the change, but the new domain name will become the default and what is shown in the address bar.

NOTE: Changing your website address could negatively impact your website SEO and other online listings, so be sure to update everything to reflect your new domain name.

There is one important thing you should keep in mind when it comes to your insurance agency’s domain name: keep it under your own account.

We’ve migrated quite a few websites away from other website providers. What’s surprising is that many of them take control of the agency’s domain name. They put it under their own account and don’t give them access to it. This is risky and unnecessary. Here’s why.

You’d need to work through a complex transfer process, enter authorization codes, and move all of your DNS settings manually. Not only is this time-consuming, but it’s also technical and easy to mess up.

So, simply put, make sure your domain name is under your own account. You can always give us and anyone else access to your account to make the necessary updates to launch your website, for example. That way, you don’t need to worry about the technical stuff.

Then, just be sure to renew your domain name registration each year to keep access to it. Nice and simple.
